Betamethasone valerate is used to bring relief for adults and children from inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of steroid-responsive dermatoses. It is a  potent topical corticosteroid indicated for adults and the elderly.

Betamethasone valerate is used to treat Atopic dermatitis, Nummular dermatitis, Prurigo nodularis, Lichen simplex chronicus and lichen planus. 

It can also work on Seborrhoeic dermatitis Irritant or allergic contact dermatitis Discoid lupus erythematosus, Adjunct to systemic steroid therapy in generalized erythroderma insect bite reactions.

Adverse side effects of betamethasone valerate can cause immune system disorder. However, it is very rare and happens in 1 in 10000 cases. Other very rare cases are hypersensitivity, and generalised Rash. Very rarely the endocrine disorders that can be caused due to side effects are Hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis suppression and Cushingoid features.  

In children the complications can be related to eyes, weight gain, and skin tissue disorders
